Privacy Policy

FindLocal SA respects your privacy and processes personal information in accordance with applicable South African law, including the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA).

1. Information we collect

Depending on how you use the platform, we may collect your name, email address, mobile number, account details, business and listing information, uploaded images, enquiry content, reports, payment references and technical information required for security and operation.

2. Why we use it

We process information to create and secure accounts; publish and moderate listings; deliver enquiries to advertisers; process and confirm advertising payments; provide support; prevent fraud and misuse; maintain records; improve the platform; and comply with legal obligations.

3. Public information

Information intentionally included in an approved listing may be visible publicly. Do not publish personal or confidential information that you do not want directory users to see.

4. Service providers

We use trusted service providers for hosting, databases, authentication, email delivery and payment processing, including Vercel, Supabase, Resend and PayFast. They process relevant information to provide their services and may maintain systems outside South Africa, subject to appropriate contractual and legal safeguards.

5. Payment information

Payments are processed through PayFast or another displayed payment provider. FindLocal SA receives transaction references and payment status but does not store full payment-card details.

6. Cookies and local storage

The platform may use cookies or browser storage that are necessary for sign-in, security and essential functionality. Your browser settings can remove stored data, although doing so may sign you out or affect features.

7. Retention and security

We keep information only for as long as reasonably required for the purposes described above, dispute resolution, security and legal recordkeeping. We use reasonable technical and organisational safeguards, but no internet service can guarantee absolute security.

8. Your rights

Subject to applicable law, you may ask whether we hold your personal information and request access, correction or deletion. You may also object to certain processing or withdraw consent where consent is the legal basis. Some information may need to be retained where the law permits or requires it.

10. Updates

We may update this policy when the platform, service providers or legal requirements change. The effective date above identifies the current version.
